Lake Victoria Triathlon
I "competed" in a triathlon for the first time last week as part of a team (I ran and please ignore the fact that we came in next to last). Lake Victoria is under significant environmental pressure, as are many water sources throughout the world. Running through the back roads of Africa, dirt paths, lush valleys, fascinated children, et al., reminds me of my runner friend Will Harlan, editor-in-chief of Blue Ridge Outdoors, and his wife, Emily Diznoff, a family physician and my magnificent friend since medical school. Together, they have been consistent, thoughtful friends of the environment for many years.

Oh my gosh! A triathalon, and in Africa.... wow! I´ve been on the opposite spectrum of physical activity on the continent to your left.
Larry, how far did you run and what was your time? I am proud of you just for doing it!!

Gumby
hmm, my time, it is actually posted on the website, check it out if you'd like. on another race note, i ran in the 10K Uganda International School X-Country a few weeks ago. My time of 52:07 was about 34th. The winner ran in ~32 minutes! Also, the Commonwealth and World Champion Ugandan runner, Dorkus, was present and easily won the women's division. Very cool race to be in.
